Unfortunately the Forum is not in a form I'm comfortable releasing just yet. When you first sign-on to it, I want everything already all set and perfect. So it may be a week (possibly less) before it's released. Again, I'm very sorry for the delay. I won't come up with excuses, but I've kind of been focusing a bit on the Epic among other things... Please try to understand that the delay is entirely your benefit. Thanks for understanding.
Project Gforum: The Forum is now under extensive testing and, barring two major additions, is feature complete. The target release is this Thursday, but it could be put up earlier depending on if I think it's ready. For now, there is a new poll going up that is forum-centric, I want to get some feeback.
In addition, I can announce that Project Gforum 2.0 is coming this Winter. And... that's really all I can say right now. XD A few big additions and overhauls are planned, I'll be announcing them over the next few months. Try to keep up with the news!
Obviously, work on the Forum has not finished yet, however most of the work is already done. At this point, it's at about 80% completion, with only a few standard features, minor glitches, and testing to add or fix. As for updating content today, there isn't anything other than the poll, and I can't name a specific day the forum will be rolled out, but it will be soon.
In addition to the two Forum "mystery features", there are two additional features for the forum as well as one major bonus feature for another part of Project Gforum, bringing the total to five. I'm very excited about all of these, and hope they in turn enhance your Gforum experience as well.
Alrighty, after a week of deliberation, I have decided to go through with the plan to add a forum to Project Gforum. Some key features:
- Lightweight and fast-loading.
- Focus on simplicity and minimalism.
- Old-style emoticons will be back.
- Some integration with the G4 forums.
- Working quick-reply.
- Stretch-to-fit width.
- Support for animated GIF avatars.
- BBCode-like markup, which means a good quote system.
- Polls will return with support for up to five answers.
- Mystery feature #1.
- Mystery feature #2.
Basically I'll be taking everything I have ever liked about the G4 forums and including it in this release, which I hope will please longtime-members.
The forum should be mostly functional within the next two weeks, but I'm not going to release it until I believe it's at least 95% bug-free and feature-filled. Until then, I'll be updating the poll every week as usual. Thanks for your time.
